What you are looking at are the settings in our entrecard adverts panel.

We noticed This on Sunday Morning about 12:30am; et. 03/29/09

the new settings Are in place.  We didn’t see anything in the blog about the settings and the way they magically appeared is quite interesting.

Take A Look at Our Settings -

We’re selecting our AD Moderation Manually By AD; For ALL ADS. this means that Both Entrecard and Paid Ads will have to be approved by US.

By selecting these settings, according to the legend below the settings panel; we control what will appear on our widget. there is also wording about Blog Ads Specifically.  we never realized that there was a seperate category for paid blog ads on entrecard, until tonite. maybe this is something else new.

we’re presenting this as a public service to our entrecard buddies who may NOT have heard about how to make the choices, before the paid ads start to appear on your blog.

We are very interested in your feelings on the new advert control settings. Please Leave a Coment, Expressing Your Feelings on the New Settings; and the announcement, or lack there of yet.  We like so many of you, are heavily in thought on all of this, and depending on how this next phase goes, we will be making our decision, and moving forward with it.

These settings affect how people can advertise with you.

Notes:
Three types of ad may run on your blog:

Entrecard ads

These are ads by other Entrecard users. They always point to a blog and are purchased using credits.

Paid ads

These are ads by third-party advertisers on Entrecard. They may point to a blog, or to a product or other site.

House ads

These are ads run by Entrecard, for Entrecard services only. These only run when there are no other ads available for your blog.

Entrecard provides the options on this page because we believe your blog is your own, and you should have control over what is shown there. However, we ask that where possible you keep any limitations as minimal as possible – Entrecard ads are the essence of the network, and paid ads help support the service and contribute to the CashOut fund. These are vital to the continued growth and success of Entrecard and its ability to help you and your blog grow.

Frequently asked questions

If I don’t check any of these boxes, does that mean I approve all paid ads?

No, Entrecard has an automatic grace period of 24 hours. During this 24 hours any paid ads available for your spot will appear on your dashboard, where you have the option of rejecting them before they run.

Is there any penalty to rejecting all Entrecard ads?

Your blog will be moved to the end of your category in Campaign. This is solely so that users who want to advertise can see advert-capable blogs first.

A paid ad I don’t like is on my widget, what can I do?

On your dashboard is a queue showing all the paid ads currently running or waiting to run, simply click “Reject” on the offending ad.

How often do paid ads run?

If there are no paid ads ready to run on your blog, they won’t run at all. If there are, and there are also Entrecard ads, the paid ads will run a maximum of 50% of the time. If there are no Entrecard ads but there are paid ads, only the paid ads will be displayed.

Is there any penalty to setting my blog to require approving paid ads only and then never approving any?

Not at this time. One of Entrecards basic rules is that, where possible, we try and give you complete control over what runs on your blog, and we don’t want to force anything on you if we don’t have to.

Entre-Fraud: Why Does Entrecard Lie About It’s Number of Blogs?

To quote the Entrecard blog: “Right now you can buy ads on over 30,000 blogs across 60 vertical niches“.   This bold faced lie has been repeated over and over by Mr Langdon about his Entrecard Traffic Exchange on both his own forums and on twitter.  Why doesn’t anyone publicly call him on this figure?  It’s downright preposterous.  Behold the real figures!

And the Grand Total is?

Claimed Number: 42,942

Actual Number of Entrecard Blogs: 16105

Why the big lie?  Count any category yourself  if you don’t believe me.  These figures are 11 days old.  According to Entrecard, they received over 1000 new signups since announcing their new advertising policy.  “I’m always amazed how controversy drives record numbers of signups… nearly 1000 in the last 24 hours #entrecard” So again I ask you, where are the blogs?

our feature report is on the EntRevolt – and it’s effect on the Entreplex.  We’re glad that we didn’t have to make our exit from entrecard, and that our friends who were considering it, have decided to stay as well.

With the level of participation we are seeing in the forums in regards to the issues of Advertising, Censorship and EntrePolitics; it’s sure to improve our understand and use of Entrecard.  We Need to Keep Ontop so that we can all get the most of our dropping opportunities.

Aunt Juanita is the eldest of My Auntee’s here in Detroit. She’s fallen ill and now is in hospital on a respirator. we are asking for you to join with us in asking the father to give her the strength to walk with us another day.

We Love Aunt Juanita because she’s always been the one constant in our married life. when we need her, she’s always there with a willing ear, a slice of cake and her great auntee love, hugs and advice.

You See Aunt Juanita is Magical – By Nature she dreams numbers, yes numbers

she can take a number out of anyones dream and tell you exactly what it means. in the old days before the lottery was legalized, people used to use Dream Books to look up the numbers for their dreams – to play them in the illegal numbers racket.

Aunt Juanita was the one person everybody would call everyday to ask her what their dream meant. she knew everybody’s secrets, business and fears; as we know today that she needs our strength and devotion more than ever.

we don’t normally ask for support like this, but today is just one of those days; and we hope that today you’ll think of Aunt Juanita and How Much She Means To Us, and How Much She Needs Your Prayers.

This is My Response, and following will be the post I Am Responding to. posted purely for clarities sake.

I hope you will join the discussion on this very important issue on the Entrecard Blog.

I do think that FINALLY Entrecard is listening to it’s users.

ooooooooo these open ended unclear pronouncements; certainly make it clear to me that there is no firm list in place for what will and won’t be shown.

I suggest you take a standard list from a marketing company which lists categories and embed that on each profile, so that each user may reject unilaterally the types of ads which are inappropriate to their blogs.

I for one want to know in advance what will be occupying my ad space. as I regularly turn down large commerical ads due to their conotations.

I do not want Alcohol,medical clinics, diet anything, rehab anything, military anything; mortages, banks, credit cards, Fast Food, Cars, Dating or lots of other types of things on my blog.

I for one am completely conscious of what that 1 ad represents to my visitors – in their association to my blogs character.

I think that I have a fairly common view, so lets have a selection mechanism for Entrecard Ads.

we have that privilige within entrecard, for blogs – so why should it be any different for your outside advertising.

What kinds of ads will you NOT see?

As we move closer to the day that we start accepting third party ads to run through the network, I want to re-iterate the bond of trust that Entrecard will now be sharing with its members going forward. You are trusting us with some of your ad space so that we might fund our operations and cash out your credits. We take this trust very, very seriously, and recognize that we only have one chance to get it right from the beginning.

I’m not sure exactly what types of ads we’ll see yet, but I do now what types of ads you won’t see. I can guarantee you, without a doubt, that you will NEVER see the following types of ads going through Entrecard:

• Male enhancement ads
• Adult themed ads
• Any ad that links to a site with nudity
• Gambling / Casino Ads
• Ads for drugs of any kind

In addition, we will be running the landing pages of ALL advertisers through CopyScape. We will not be accepting ads on behalf of anyone with scraped/stolen content.

If there are certain types of ads that you don’t want to see, ever, please let us know about it in the comments here. We listen to all feedback, and try our best to accomodate your wishes.

Does Entrecard cost money?

A few people seem confused on this issue, and I just wanted to take a moment to clear up something very important. Entrecard is a completely free service for bloggers. It always has been, and always will be. It costs you absolutely nothing to sign up an account, start earning credits, and start advertising. By “dropping your card” at other members’ blogs, you can earn up to 300 credits per day, for free, to advertise with. In addition, you will earn credits on a daily basis when you sell your ad spots for credits. You will earn 25 credits, once every three days, just for publishing on your blog. Finally, by selling any product or service in our market place, you can earn an unlimited amount of credits.

Yes, you can buy credits as well, but we encourage everyone to participate in our economy and earn credits for free instead of buying. Have you listed something in the market yet?
