Entrecards’ recent change in ownership has brought little to no change from what we can see; and that’s not what we were expecting.

bearing in mind that it takes an adjustment peroid, you’d expect something different to have happened by now, right ?

well Noooooot !

The letter we received from Cindy Ung, the new Director of Business Development was the last communication we’ve seen from the new posse‘. the warnings, the crashes and the lack of communication are just as plentiful as normal.

that was not what we were expecting.

there is still nothing that even resembles a support system, working on commumicating with users;  who request support. the email support system works one way. you send them an issue from your dashboard, and if they feel like it, they address it – and maybe resolve it. All Without Communication With The USER ..

HOW Is That Support or Helpful ?

This may be the real demise that everyone has predicted. ad rates are bottoming out. as well purchases of ads are way down. you can look at the top rated blogs and see their values slipping into normal range. no one knows how many blogs are real and how many are just click farms ? far too many old festering issues seem to be littering the landscape, for us to see any progress.

• does this mean that finally Entrecard is starting to settle into it’s own real economy ?
• or does this mean that the system is finally crashing ?
• could this be due to the lack of involvement from the new owners ?
• isn’t it time some of these issues were addressed, and finally resolved  for the better of the system ?

Many such questions are circulating withing the entrecard community, on lots of blogs. don’t you want to know what’s going on behind the scenes ?

we’d hoped to see some new Ad Rates, and Support Mechanisms put into place by now – but that alas, is just a wish still.. unfortunantly.

we honestly can’t justify the time to produce another edition of our podcast, until we see something to report on – from Entrecard. Lets Cross our Fingers, that we get a new update soon.

Before I get started, let me say that this is just my experience as of recent;  and it is not hopefully an indication of the present state of Entrecard; nor a statement of what may become of Entrecard in the future.

several days ago, all of our sites were struck with a redirect bug. the bug worked it’s way across our self hosted platform; as well as into our blogger hosted blog - BadGalSays.

well in typical fastdraw fashion Entrecard posted a warning ribbon on my dashboard – the pretty pink was quite entertaining the first couple times I saw it; but as the problem has long been remedied and fixed – and I’ve contacted them to confirm the fix – why is it still there ?

Interesting indeed ..

Okay so I’ve written them more than 10 times to ask them to remove the ribbon; since I’ve rebuilt the site in question, sanitized it and it’s now working flawlessly.

while dropping I’ve noticed several blogs who are complaining of similar problems, for extended peroids of time as well; not good.  this leads us to ask the question – is anybody minding the store really ?

talk about immediate improvement.  just the fact that we know what may or may-not be happening behind the scenes, makes us happier.

The elimination of paid ads and the cashout programs are totally correct, for a new startup.  this is basically a new start up, because the owners are taking a barely functioning company – and attempting to revive it;

We Wish Cindy Ung – Director of Business Development; and the new owners nothing but good will and fairness in their changeover process.  it takes alot of grit to build a company from the ground. Graham had a vision, and maybe Andrew can make it a reality. We Sure Hope So.

This is most certainly on my list of things to get this year.

Turn any Flat surface into a speaker with K-Box

Some of you might remember last January at CES when we covered the Tunebug, an interesting little MP3 Player that could turn any flat surface into a speaker. It would appear that this technology is being imitated (hopefully not stolen) with the K-Box.

The K-Box (not to be confused with K-Pax, a Kevin Spacey movie where he plays a guy who thinks he’s an alien) is about the size of a mobile phone, and is designed to connect with devices like mobile phones or iPods to give your sound one dynamic boost.

If you watch the YouTube video after the jump, you will see that it connects quite effortlessly (and out of the box, if I might add) to the headphones jack and then turns any flat surface like a tabletop into a booming resonator.

Apparently, this technology is possible with patented gel audio technology. I believe that the Tunebug used NXT, but I’m not certain how long the Tunebug could last on a single charge. The K-Box says it can last for about 20 hours, but I would personally like to try that out for myself.

The K-box is created by a social networking site call Kerchoonz, and it is planned to retail for about $65.

Some of you may remember when I reported on Teac’s new iPod Docking Station that uses the NXT flat speaker system. Ever since then, I just keep running into NXT products. Last night, I opened the Soundbag that I received from the Sharper Image party, and the NXT logo was there.

This morning, I attended the NXT breakfast at CES and I discovered another nifty product that uses NXT’s Surface Surround Sound technology. The Tunebug, designed by Silicon Valley Global, has the unique ability to turn any flat surface into a speaker.

In order to prove this, Dick Brown, president of Silicon Valley Global, placed the Tunebug on an ordinary piece of cardboard. He held the cardboard out like a tiny diving board, and I could hear clear sound as the flat surface became a speaker.

The Tunebug has a Micro SD Card that can store up to 500 music files for up to five hours of playing time. The company also showed me how the Tunebug can be attached magnetically to a motorcyclist’s helmet, so he or she can hear music as he or she is riding on the road. Not only can it play music independently, but it can be hooked up to an iPod and act as a speaker.

Unfortunately, Silicon Valley Global was not able to give me a release date for this product. The only thing they say in their Press Kit is “Stay Tuned”.
