Social Networking has become a cash bonanza if you understand how the dynamics work.. Check This Out -

Take for example a young man who is in the news for several reasons lately – Antoine Dodson. He’s the young man who is in the Bed Intruder Song produced by The Gregory Bros.  the young masterminds who put us into the news spin with one of our favorite internet youtube series – Auto Tune the News.  yeah we’re hooked as you well know.

This is Antoine on the News – notice how animated he is. this is what the Gregories saw and decided was well worth turning into a marketing opportunity, since Antoine already had a sizable clickcount. You see YouTube is one of the largest social networking sites on the planet – for all users of all types. even the news, as Antoine shows us.

Anyway back to Antoine, you may or may not have seen his video and or his story and if not we think you should and then we’ll continue with the real meat of the social networking opportunity.

As You Can See, he’s really upset and getting his social network wired up on what happened to his sister. I admire his spunk and fire. so did the Gregory Bros. they took his rant and turned it into one of the latest internet marketing bonanzas. Booyah – Instant Cashola.

The Gregories immediately recognized from the hit count just how popular he was on Youtube; from his video talking about the incident and decided to put it to music.

The Gregories say that Antoines’ voice has a natural quality that works perfectly like a singer; for autotune. Genius indeed.. and Antoine didn’t have any idea.  he was just working it out for the newscrew.  I love that lil rolled up sales paper in his hand that he uses to punctuate his short statement. that is the mark of a true master. he directs your attention totally, completely.

As You Can See, the social networking began with Antoines’ News Feature and accelerated with the Gregories. It all started when they contacted Antoine through his video post on Youtube, then offering him a chance to be in their autotuned version.

Antoine being a good social networker immediately seized the opportunity.  Antoine is now one of the hottest stars on youtube and has moved his family out of the projects; with the money he made from his social networking.

The best part is that The Gregory Bros. split the procedes with Antoine which was the real  humanitarian bonus from this Social Networking Opportunity.  As well, Antoine has his own Facebook Page, Twitter Page, His own line of Merchandise and is a star of underground media. He was recently on Good Morning America. that’s what you realllly call social networking. This case shows us exactly how it works.

That’s what the axiom “When you hear a knock at the door, it could be opportunity” really means, in the most practical sense.

Now we want to show you a different view of it from inside our Social Network – the folks at People You Need to Know. they are Social Networking Specialists. My Friend Jacqueline and her hubby Sparkplug; (yep that’s his name) are Atlanta marketing geniuses. they’ve made a science out of being known in a personality driven town like Atlanta.

In Atlanta,  if you are anybody, you want to be featured in People You Need To Know. if you haven’t taken a look at their magazine you really need to. they put their whole hearts into it, and it shows. You can find them set up in their familiar cozy red tent welcoming visitors at most larger Atlanta area events year round.  That’s the hallmark of a good networker.

This year they’re hosting a Fabulous Business Womens Breakfast October 1st at the Marriott in the heart of downtown Atlanta. I must say I admire Jacqueline because she’s a powerful and directed spirit; who goes out and gets it done. she can seem so unassuming while plotting the next big trend; as you stand side by side looking and talking about the hottest accessories.

Trust Me,  I found this out very recently when we went shopping and to meet up with another of our Social Network – the beautiful and talented Fashiona, otherwise known professionally as Alicia Edwards; of the urban examiner and Fashiona’s Fashion Blog.   She’s another real spirited soul, just like me. Laughing and showing off those moves. All the while Jacqueline just serenely watched and smiled at us pulling out red outfits and forcing them on her.  She’s Absolutely Gorgeous, yet she loves to be quitely conservative. she’s a gentle kind spirit, but I know deep down inside she’s a firecracker. Knowing My Girl JacJac I’d say that in the wrong situation,  she can blow ya ass up like a case of c-4 I can assure you – she leaves no stone unturned or uncrushed. she is thorough at everything, always. patient but thorough.

The World brings people into networks for many purposes, and I met both Jacqueline and Alicia through entrecard. Alicia has long ago departed the card game, but as we liked eachother genuinely, we’ve maintained our contact and keep in touch regularly. Jacqueline is like a member of the family now. we talk, text and tweet. if there was something else, we’d do that too. that’s what you call hard core social networking. when you’re always there in the circle.

Starting up my new business I’ve sought out the women around me who are successful at what they do. not necessarily in the same field; but stars in their own arenas.  this is where good social networking counts. having that person who can push you toward your goal. knowing someone who will answer a question and be a motivator when you’re unsure and need a push. it’s knowing that this woman has the guts to put her heart into it and succeed. this is what real social networking is all about.

I hope that all of you who stop by and read will take a moment and look at your social network.  really look at your resources.  not just for who they are but for what they also come with.  you see, Jacqueline loves Cake.  Uh Huhh, that’s what makes her a great social motivator for me.  I took her a small cake to let her taste my handiwork. she was honest, fast and fair in her assessment.  I was pleased that she would be so kind to a fledgling baker, so unsteady about the future of my baking venture.

Since I was a young cooking school student, I’ve always been the one people call for a cake, a cheesecake, cookies, cupcakes; or just a dish when there’s a family or social occasion. I’m always happy to oblige. even if I won’t be attending, because the food will.  people will tell you the truth about what was left and how quickly it left. that’s the research that I need.  so my friend JacJac, as I affectionately call her and I, are networking and tightening up my apron strings.

Her answers about what makes a good network are simple :

• Be Consistent in Your Approach
• Be Honest in What You Represent
• Always Keep it Fresh but Familiar

Yep, this is what she’s told me in so many words; and for that I’m grateful.  My Girl JacJac and that Red Tent have inspired me to strike out on my own as the cake lady. to go where no other cake ladies are presently selling; and to see new markets where there presently aren’t any established yet.  Yeah it’s good to have a Social Network and to be able to identify your strengths from their connections to you. they are the strength that push you solidly into your venture. they’re going to be there to support you if you support back.

NY Daily News Reports That A WikiLeaks spokesman vowed on Saturday to release more top secret U.S. files — despite the Pentagon’s push to silence the controversial whistle-blower website.

“I can assure you that we will keep publishing documents — that’s what we do,” a spokesman who called himself Daniel Schmitt told The Associated Press.

The website’s promise to reveal more files was a direct challenge to U.S. military demands. The Pentagon on Thursday asked that WikiLeaks “do the right thing” by canceling plans to publish more classified military files and removing posted documents relating to the war in Afghanistan.

Schmitt said publishing the documents helps hold government’s accountable.

“Knowledge about ongoing issues like the war in Afghanistan is the only way to help create something like safety,” Schmitt said. “Hopefully with this understanding, public scrutiny will then influence governments to develop better politics.”

The website has become a thorn in the side of the U.S. military. Earlier in the year, it released disturbing video footage of Iraqi civilians being gunned down by U.S. helicopters.

And more recently, it released 77,000 files spanning six years that detailed U.S. effort in Afghanistan, intelligence about the Taliban and military tactics.

The Pentagon has said the files could endanger Afghan informants.

WikiLeaks also claims to have 15,000 more files that could prove damaging to the U.S. military. Last week, it posted an encrypted file entitled “Insurance,” leading to speculation it was prepared to leak them

Quantico, Virginia (CNN) reports — Activists rallied outside the Marine Corps base at Quantico, Virginia, Sunday to applaud the man military officials suspect leaked scores of military documents to the WikiLeaks website — a 22-year-old Army private named Bradley Manning.

“We are here to say that if he, indeed, was the whistle-blower, then we are proud of him,” said Medea Benjamin, founder of anti-war group Code Pink. “In the United States that I know and love, transparency is a positive thing.”

Manning, who served as an intelligence analyst in Iraq, is the military’s focus in the investigation into the largest-ever intelligence leak in American history, to WikiLeaks.org.

He is being detained at Quantico pending a military investigation in a separate case, in which he’s charged with eight violations of the U.S. Criminal Code, including for allegedly leaking a secret military video from the Iraq war to WikiLeaks.

Outside the Quantico gates, about 80 protesters chanted

“Bradley Manning told their tale, war criminals off to jail” and held signs calling on the military to “Free Bradley Manning.”

Many wore pink and seemed out-of-place in a small community where people sported military haircuts and displayed Marine bumper stickers on their cars.

Ray McGovern, who said he was formerly a CIA analyst, lauded Manning for allegedly releasing information about America’s “war of aggression”.

“What Bradley Manning has done is to give us as Americans the opportunity to realize what’s really going on there,” McGovern said.

“If Americans can’t realize now that they have the ground truth, literally the ground truth from these Army reports, if they can’t realize and move to end these kinds of wars, then there’s very little hope for our children or our grandchildren.”

About 300 yards away, a handful of counter-protesters wearing the military’s trademark olive green held a poster that showed Manning with bloody hands. They called the leak treasonous.

“If Bradley Manning is the one that leaked these documents, he has already put his fellow soldiers at risk,” said Jim Hanson, who writes for the pro-military website BlackFive.

“I think the military and the government have some things that should be kept secret. The public knows that … There is no ‘right to know’ secret information.”

AP Interview: WikiLeaks to publish new documents

BERLIN — The online whistle-blower WikiLeaks said it will continue to publish more secret files from governments around the world despite U.S. demands to cancel plans to release classified military documents.

“I can assure you that we will keep publishing documents — that’s what we do,” a WikiLeaks spokesman, who says he goes by the name Daniel Schmitt in order to protect his identity, told The Associated Press in an interview Saturday.

Schmitt said he could not comment on any specific documents but asserted that the publication of classified documents about the Afghanistan war directly contributed to the public’s understanding of the conflict.

“Knowledge about ongoing issues like the war in Afghanistan is the only way to help create something like safety,” Schmitt said. “Hopefully with this understanding, public scrutiny will then influence governments to develop better politics.”

He rejected allegations that the group’s publication of leaked U.S. government documents was a threat to America’s national security or put lives at risk.

“For this reason, we conveyed a request to the White House prior to the publication, asking that the International Security Assistance Force provide us with reviewers,” Schmitt said. “That request remains open. However, the Pentagon has stated that it is not interested in ‘harm minimization’ and has not contacted us, directly, or indirectly to discuss this offer.”

Julian Assange’ is being Hunted By the CIA – Why ?  Because He Has The Goods on the US Dept of Defense.

Adrian Lamo, a computer hacker with whom Manning had corresponded, reported Manning after the intelligence specialist told Lamo he had leaked to Wikileaks some 260,000 secret State Department records, in addition to the “Collateral Damage” video and a document describing Wikileaks as a security threat. Manning reportedly told Lamo the hundreds of thousands of State Department documents he leaked to the whistleblower website detailed “almost criminal political back dealings.”

If you’ve forgotten, Wikileaks released the video as they said they would in April.  it blew the army off it’s asses and into the office of the president.  the front page Blog and News splash put the war back onto everyone’s minds.

The BBC Reports : Whistle-blowing website Wikileaks has said that the detention of an alleged confidential source by the US military does not compromise its work.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange told BBC News that other potential whistle-blowers should not be put off from sending material to the site.

The US has detained US military analyst Bradley Manning on suspicion of leaking classified material to the site.

Mr Assange would not confirm whether Mr Manning was a source.

“We endeavour to protect our sources,” he told BBC News. “We do not know if Mr Manning is a source, but we understand there are allegations that are being taken seriously so we are naturally inclined to try to defend [him].”

The US army in Iraq has said that Specialist (Spc) Manning was in Kuwait and had been “placed in pre-trial confinement for allegedly releasing classified information”.

One video reportedly posted to the site by Mr Manning shows a US Apache helicopter killing up to 12 people – including two Reuters journalists – during an attack in Baghdad in 2007. Two children were also seriously injured in the assault on the group, which contained some armed men.

Meet Adrian Lamo – Federal Criminal, Hacker and Snitch

This is from the person who turned Spc Manning In – The Hacker / Snitch, who admits it proudly – Mr Adrian Lamo.

Hackers often pride themselves on their anti-authoritarian and counter culture stance.

So news that former high-profile hacker Adrian Lamo had turned over an Army intelligence analyst to authorities was met with derision by some.

“A lot of people have labelled me a snitch,” Mr Lamo told BBC News. “I guess I deserve that on this one but not as a generality.”

“This was a very hard decision for me.”

Mr Lamo is a former hacker, who exposed security flaws at the New York Times, Yahoo and Microsoft. After a brief stint hiding from the FBI, Mr Lamo was imprisoned and fined. He now works as a journalist and security analyst.

‘By the book’

Mr Lamo says that he was responsible for reporting Specialist (SPC) Brad Manning to the military authorities after the analyst boasted to him that he had handed over thousands of classified documents and classified military video to whistle-blower site Wikileaks.

Huffington Post reports :  Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is being hunted by Pentagon investigators who believe that he may be close to releasing classified State Department documents that “could do serious damage to national security,” the Daily Beast reports.

According to information obtained by the Daily Beast from government officials, the Pentagon fears Assange may have received the secret State Department communications from Army intelligence analyst Bradley Manning, who was recently arrested for leaking the “Collateral Damage” video to Wikileaks, among other materials.

Adrian Lamo, a computer hacker with whom Manning had corresponded, reported Manning after the intelligence specialist told Lamo he had leaked to Wikileaks some 260,000 secret State Department records, in addition to the “Collateral Damage” video and a document describing Wikileaks as a security threat. The Daily Beast writes that the classified cables that Manning may have obtained–and shared with Assange–”went out over interagency computer networks available to the Army and contained information related to American diplomatic and intelligence efforts in the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq, the diplomat said.”

According to Wired, Manning told Lamo of the leaked documents, “Hillary Clinton, and several thousand diplomats around the world are going to have a heart attack when they wake up one morning, and find an entire repository of classified foreign policy is available, in searchable format, to the public.”

Wikileaks has established a reputation for publishing leaked material since its first appearance on the web in 2006.

In November 2009, it published what it said were 573,000 intercepted pager messages sent during the 9/11 attacks in the United States. 

Previously it had posted a list of names and addresses of people said to belong to the British National Party (BNP) and a copy of the Standard Operating Procedures for Camp Delta, a document that detailed restrictions placed on prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Earlier this year, the website published a 2008 Pentagon report that said the site was considered a “threat to the US army”.

The document says that “the possibility that current employees or moles within [the Department of Defence] or elsewhere in the US government are providing sensitive or classified information to Wikileaks.org cannot be ruled out”.

It goes on to say that the “identification, exposure, termination of employment, criminal prosecution, legal action against current or former insiders, leakers, or whistleblowers could potentially… deter others considering similar actions from using [Wikileaks]“.

The US government later confirmed to the BBC that the documents were genuine.

Knowing that the United States is So Big on Wiretapping it’s own citizens, as well as those who oppose it; we decided to explore the world of Wiretaps. yes wiretaps exist everywhere and today we’re talking about the International Variety. this is where you cast out a wide net and capture everything that is within the parameters of that net.

This is how the police in many countries go about monitoring communities that they can’t physically enter. it was used extensively in Iraq for the US Dept of Defense. this is why it looks like it’s from a computer game. remember to them, our personal security is a game.  This photo appeared in a directory on the JDF servers that allows querys from news media gathering computers. that was the key, it cataloged the image before the police could classify it and the shot was captured and preserved by the news media for All To See.

This could not have been a proud moment for the IT Staff at the JDF.

On Monday April 5th – the entire US Security Community may suddenly feel exposed in the worst possible way.  Wikileaks plans to drop their video and expose the Murders in Afghanistan; and other places. All perpetrated by the US Military and it’s Security Forces.  This is ugly, and quite a peccadillo for the US Department of Justice if the video provides proof of the reputed crimes.

Khalid Sheik Muhammad has said that there was proof of all the atrocities being gathered by independent sources; so no doubt he believed someone was out there watching.  Even as the CIA and it’s hired black ops thought they were like ninjas slicing and dicing their way through war fronts abroad. there were eyes, and they told the story to WikiLeaks.

This could be the lynchpin that catches all of Americas’ shorthairs in the preverbial zipper of justice; and demands attention from the ICC in the Hague for Genocide.  That in itself is absolutely terrifying to the Bush-co Criminals; and now maybe even a few from the Obama Camp – Heaven Forbid.

Sounds like the people behind Wikileaks are under some pressure. Since this is unlikely to turn up in your newspapers, I post it here to spread awareness.

Wikileaks has a mission of bringing hidden information to light, when it’s in the public interest. Wikipedia outlines their greatest hits, including Guantanamo Bay procedure documents, scientology secrets, and net censorship lists. They come under fire sometimes for hosting material that probably isn’t much in the public interest, but overall they have contributed some compelling information to some fractious global arguments.

In the last 2 Weeks, their Twitter feed has contained some worrying content.

* One related person was detained for 22 hours. Computer’s seized.That’s http://www.skup.no

* We have been shown secret photos of our production meetings and been asked specific questions during detention related to the airstrike.
* We have airline records of the State Dep/CIA tails. Don’t think you can get away with it. You cannot. This is WikiLeaks.

All those came out in a rush, then silence for hours. Might just be a timezone thing, with people sleeping, or maybe there’s been no news, or maybe everyone with access to the Twitter feed has been detained. I await more information.

Hardline al Shabaab insurgents who seized the southern Somali port of Kismayu have banned “corrupt” musical ringtones.

Sacdiyo Sheeq, 25, used to love listening to Bollywood movie songs on her mobile telephone in the failed Horn of Africa state.

But she told reporters: “Al Shabaab wants our ringtones to be only a Muslim cleric reading the Hadith or Koranic verse.

“I used to listen to my favourite Indian songs on my cell phone, but now I have just thrown that memory away.”

Al Shabaab, which America says is al Qaeda‘s proxy in Somalia, wants to topple the country’s UN-backed government and impose its own strict version of Sharia law.

The heavily-armed group controls much of the south and parts of the capital Mogadishu.

Courts run by its clerics have ordered executions, floggings and amputations in recent months.

Al Shabaab has also banned movies, dancing at wedding ceremonies and playing or watching football in the areas under its control.

“We do not tolerate anything that may corrupt the people,” al Shabaab’s spokesman in Kismayu, Sheikh Hassan Yaqub, said.

“We don’t allow anything that goes against our religion, especially music and sexy videos.”

Ali Mahamud Yusuf, 19, fled his home in Kismayu after he was whipped in public last week by al Shabaab gunmen who had caught him listening to music and watching videos on his phone.

He said: “I am still suffering from the 25 lashes. They accused me of rejecting religion. I don’t want to tell you where I am now for security reasons. I am scared.”

Fighting has killed 19,000 Somalis since the start of 2007.

While some civilians credit the insurgents with restoring a semblance of order in various areas, al Shabaab’s strict rules have alienated many Somalis who are traditionally moderate Muslims.

Seriously, how messed up is this. Al Shabaab insurgents in Somalia (Al Qaeda‘s proxy in the region) are going around flogging teenagers for listening to music and watching videos on their phones. Not to mention the senseless killings and amputations.

Fighting has killed almost 20,000 Somalis since 2007, and though some semblance of order has been restored, the imposed Sharia law has banned even regular moderate muslims from dancing at weddings, or even playing and watching soccer. the video explores the cost, in both dangerous chemical reactions; as well as financially for women who just want to “Have Good Hair”; at almost any cost.

you may be asking yourself about my hair above -

well heres’ the real deal

1. I have naturally curly hair (see the picture below) – so to get it straight, I Blow Dry It Straight;
2. Then I Flat Iron it; that lengthens it and makes it easier to style, like above with a simple crown clip on my ponytail bouffant.
3. then to put controlled curl into it, I use a brush and a hot blow dryer
4. or I get my stylist to curl it with the hot curlers.
5. if I plan to keep those curls – I put in some curlers that night and sleep in them if I can;
6. Oh Yes Ms Clarol and I are Old Buddies as you can see. I’m a Caribbean Blond; yes it’s my own color combination – made richer by Roux. in case you can’t tell – My Hair is Tinted Pink; yes  like PINK.

I was Only Kidding. but I have been Pink, Blue, Braided, Bald, Dreadlocked, Curly and Multicolored. Uh Huh. I’ve had quite a few hair challenges.. but lately I’ve been pretty normal.

This documentary asks some high profile women about their hair rituals and what “Hair Sex” is really all about. we were new to that one too. sorry, because we just didnt’ know it was called that. we always have hair and people know its real to the roots; literally. that amazingly enough makes us stand out too. most of the women in our family, have hair below their waists; and ours would be too if we didn’t keep it at a more managable length – for convenience. but then again they have Dreadlocks and we have Curlylocks.

this is probably due to the fact that unlike the women in the movie, in my family – we don’t cut our hair off alot; which means we don’t need a weave.

we don’t do creamy crack – because we’ve finally surrendered to our beautiful natural kinks and curls. we like the way we are, and the less enhancements the better. we aren’t like most of our peers, but we try to keep it real on as many levels as possible.

is it consistent ? do you visit the same blogs daily ? if you have more than 150 blogs in your friends blogs list on entrecard, maybe it’s time to really look at what’s on those blogs that make them Your Favorites.

Somewhere in this list of Friends who drop consistently is a blog that somehow you enjoy, but maybe they don’t think the same of your blog.  Yes I’m speaking of “ Blog Envy”. many folks don’t admit it, but there are many blogs that we visit and wish that we were that popular; or our template was tweeked just so. yeah, I said it.  Blog Envy.

take a few minutes and look at those blogs you envy – what is it about that blog that makes you like it ? is it the design, the layout, the amount of interaction and comments ?  You’re  looking at your growth plan when you examine these elements.

Next take a look at your inbox and see who from this list of Blogs You Envy drops on you consistently.  this is what you want to assess. why do the folks who drop on you comeback ?  if you don’t know, drop them a comment or even a note and ask them – what keeps them coming back.

next look at those blogs in your drop list who consistently visit, but don’t update or comment – These Are The Problem Blogs – or as I call them the  Coverts who are covering up why they are visiting you and others regularly, without interacting.

there is one thing Entrecard needs to do – create a way to Block Drops from those who may have possibly been in some way a bad blog experience for you.  if Entrecard allowed this – do you think it would stop this Blog Envy and present the ability to really enjoy Entrecard for you ? I’d say YES.

there are clickfarmers still raping our blogs and many of them are doing it with bad intention. Entrecard still has not owned up to their part in enabling this behaviour. until they look at it as an abuse issue, instead of ignoring it – the problem  will only intensify.

My final bit of advice is to avoid blogs that offer you NO Interaction – No Comments, and nothing but using Your Blog as a source of credits.

Entrecard needs to mature in the sense that bloggers should be Respected. Blogs should also be given a fairer assessment in terms of credit value.

how can a blog which updated 3 months ago still be valued at 512 credits per day – when they have nothing to offer different than the last 89 days you saw it ? STUPID and one of the causes of Extreme Blog Envy.

Instead of asking for more realestate on blogs – Entrecard needs to learn to manage what space they have already on your blog more effectively. Do Not Allow a Blog which is more than 25% Ads INTO Entrecard – Simple.

if you are not a Blogger – Become an Advertiser. Stop Ruining the Blogging experience for so many others who consistently find time to write, interact and comment. those who’ve found friendship and like mindedness in bloggers who they visit daily, because they Enjoy The Writing and Experience, Not because they want to raise your bouncerate and devalue your blog by infecting it with a virus, on your return visit to them.

Courtesy is important, but Safety is Much More Relevant in this case

If You’ve dropped on me and I haven’t returned the drop – stop dropping on me. it’s because you aren’t writing about anything I find interesting. probably I’ve read your blog the first time you milked me, and felt the drop fever, not the love.  that means I won’t be back.

why not take the hint and be a good egg and find somewhere else to deposit your clicktrash like on a fellow clickfarmer.

Ever Think Maybe.  Entrecard needs to invent a category just for Clickfarmers

We think if they did, no one would willingly join it – but maybe if you were caught clickfarming or virusbaiting – you could be put there by fellow entrecarders; who would then know Who You Are and What You’ve Done.

BLOODY WAR FOR CABLE MONEY – Thugs clash for profit from illegal business

The police are now concerned about an illegal cable operation in Gold Spring, Westmoreland, that has led to several bloody clashes between thugs wanting to collect the profits from its operation.

THE STAR has learnt that for the past three weeks there have been frequent clashes between two groups of men who have been fighting for the right to the profits.

Although there has not been any death so far, several men have been seriously injured after they were beaten and left nursing broken bones. At least a dozen men are believed to be involved in the conflict.

“Some months ago a group of men from the community devised a way to make illegal connections and charge residents a small weekly fee. Recently, another set of men from the same community wanted in on the action and when they were told ‘no’ it started a war,” Inspector Martin Howell of the Area One Police Division told THE STAR.

It was further explained to THE STAR that through the illegal connection, residents pay $200 per week and are given about 50 channels.

The police say they are yet to determine the number of residents who have taken up the illegal offer, but it is suspected that the men reap handsome profits.

With the prospect of earning big, the men have been at each other’s throats, clashing frequently in the streets of the community, using sticks, stones and anything else they can grab to get their point across.

“Based on what we heard, the original men are not willing to let in anybody on the action but the other men are willing to fight for it,” said Inspector Howell, adding, “They have not gone for the gun, instead these men are literally using sticks and stones but it is still a serious situation.”

The most recent clash occurred on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, about 4 p.m. two men had gone into a section of the community to collect cable payments.

They were confronted by a group of men who ordered them to leave, and upon resisting several blows were thrown on them. One of the men suffered a broken leg and had to be taken to hospital.

The police say that they have already began to increase their presence in the community and will be looking to slap charges on the participants in the illegal activity.

JAMAICAN HIT MAN HIRED TO KILL TRINI COP?

Reports have been running wild in Trinidad since last week that a Jamaican hit man was brought there to assassinate a senior police officer, known for his tough stance on crime.

According to one newspaper in Trinidad, the hit man was hired “to assassinate head of the North Eastern Divisional Task Force Sergeant Roger Alexander” and that the thug “has been hiding out somewhere in Laventille Road”. Reports say detectives have since been combing the island for the man.

On Monday, a corporal at the North Eastern Division Police Station said they would not be divulging any information on the telephone. He confirmed, however, that the police have heard about the Jamaican hit man. Attempts to speak with Sergeant Alexander were unsuccessful as THE STAR was told he would not be in office.

A representative at the Jamaican High Commission in Trinidad told THE STAR that he has seen the report in the media but it would first have to be substantiated before a comment could be made.

Head of communication for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Karl Angell, said that the matter would be looked into and an update provided.

Reports say the assassination plot was unearthed after the Morvant Police Station in Trinidad “was flooded with calls regarding the Jamaican national”.

It is alleged that that callers told police that a “hefty” price had been put on Alexander’s head and also described the would-be killer.

LA Lewis Evicted!

Landlord removes belongings from deejay’s office

LA Lewis’ problems just can’t end.

The deejay, who is known for his graffiti across the Corporate Area, was yesterday evicted from the building from which he operated his business, LA Lewis Enterprise Limited.

Scores of onlookers gathered outside the establishment located at 24 Burlington Avenue in St Andrew, while the deejay’s furniture and equipment were being removed. While the rain fell, his belongings were being placed on either the sidewalk or in a truck parked a few metres away.

All this took place just hours after the deejay was released from custody after he was remanded on Tuesday by Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey. Lewis had appeared to answer to charges of housebreaking and larceny and assault in relation to allegations that he broke into the house of a former business associate and robbed her.

Shortly after he was given a new date to return to court, the artiste returned after the complainant told police that he attempted to kiss her and had stood in her way outside of court. RM Pusey then ordered that he be taken to the holding area to see that the court was not a ‘poppy show’. He was kept there until yesterday.

When contacted after his eviction, LA Lewis confirmed that he was removed from the building. He said, however, that he had been speaking with the landlord’s wife for an hour before the men arrived to remove his belongings.

“De lady (landlord’s wife) seh mi balance a $60,000. Dem bring some letters and seh I was evicted. From December (2008) me never pay dem no rent, but mi did have a talk with di elder for the building and tell him seh mi a go pay him soon,” LA Lewis told THE STAR.

However, Lewis said he paid $50,000 to the landlord a few weeks ago and he had also paid two months’ security deposit. The deejay said that he had a five-year rental agreement with the landlord in which he would pay $19,000 each month.

According to the deejay, he was unable to pay his rent because he was losing business as a result of his court case. He said his business was going through a “depression” and he was involved in many different projects.

His eviction has only added to the stress ,and now LA Lewis has been forced to store his belongings in a warehouse. He also said that he does not know where his office will be located next.

Health minister, union to meet following closure of morgue

Minister of Health Rudyard Spencer is to meet with President of the Jamaica Workers’ Union, Clifton Brown, following a directive to suspend the operations of the Mandeville Regional Hospital’s morgue following the recent disappearance of a baby’s body.

The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday at the ministry’s head office on King Street in Kingston.

Letters of suspension were sent to the staff last Wednesday after the minister received a report into the disappearance of the body of a new-born from the facility. It was discovered that the body, one of a twin, could not be found when the parents turned up to collect it in February.

This is the second such incident at the hospital. The Mandeville Regional Hospital was at the centre of the 2002 ‘Baby Pansy’ saga.

In that incident, Pansy Campbell challenged the hospital after she was presented with a body that the administrators claimed was that of her child who had died shortly after birth. Campbell denied that it was her child.

Close to a year later, and after widespread media coverage, DNA tests confirmed the body was not that of ‘Baby Pansy’. It has never been determined what happened to the body of the child.

No gun salute? – Residents claim cops tried to get patrons to go to go-go club

If the residents of Charlemont in St Catherine are speaking anything near the truth, then the two policemen who are being investigated for their alleged involvement in a gun salute will have a lot to explain.

On Tuesday, THE STAR reported that allegations are being investigated that two policemen were involved in a gun salute at a dance in the community on Saturday. The article stated that the dance was being held in celebration of a bar opening for a well-known don.

However, irate residents of the community afterwards contacted THE WEEKEND STAR and sought to give their version of the story, which paints a rather corrupt picture.

The residents say there was no gun salute, but rather a barrage of shots which were fired to disperse the crowd in the hope that they would leave the dance and go to another venue, owned by the stepfather of one of the policemen.

“Not a thing nuh guh suh ’bout gun salute … Di police
dem not even know di man weh a keep di dance suh how dem fi a fire salute fi him?” a resident who claims to have witnessed the whole scenario, Ms Betty, questioned.

She said the policemen were simply trying to get the patrons to a go-go club which was not enjoying its usual number of patrons due to the keeping of the dance.

“Listen, is a big dance eno, di place block and ’cause everybody deh deh … Nobody neva too deh a di go-go club suh a dat mek him come fire di shot dem inna di dance. Everybody from Charlemont know seh him step fada own the go-go club,” Ms Betty explained.

Police say they are aware of the residents’ claims, but add that it is too early to say which argument is correct as investigations are not yet complete.

Reports said the Linstead police went to the dance in the wee hours of the morning after being alerted about gunshots being fired. After arriving, the cops saw two men who aroused their suspicion and they were searched.

The men were reportedly loud and boisterous and had to be taken to the Linstead Police Station, where a senior officer was called and their firearms taken.

Their hands were subsequently swabbed and the guns sent for forensic testing.

DONS TURN TO MUSIC – Producing songs as cover for illegal activities

In an effort to divert police attention, some powerful area dons in the island are turning to producing music, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.

Dons from Kingston and St Catherine, St Elizabeth and Westmoreland have taken to the music business as they put up a ‘front’ while seeking profits to fund their criminal operations.

Although criminal elements have been known to seek profits by hosting events such as stage shows and parties, music production is relatively new.

Checks have revealed that at least three record labels have been associated with dons. There are also at least two songs which are high-riding on local charts that were produced by one of these labels.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Green, head of the Serious Crimes Division (which networks with the Major Investigation Task Force and Organised Crime Investigation Division) said the police are aware of the activity.

He said certain people in the music industry along with their entourages are always under scrutiny.

Bling, the ‘second in command’ for a volatile east Kingston community, admitted to their involvement in music production.

“A deh suh di ting deh now eno … If wi can mek money from show and party, it only natural wi try fi di bigga money and try di music ting straight,” he said while pointing out that his boss is one such community leader who has gone into music production.

But there is a twist in the gangsters’ involvement. Investigations revealed that the criminals do little or nothing in order to complete the productions.

Blacka Dog, a highly respected community leader from St Catherine, said persons are simply ordered to perform musical favours. “We nuh know how fi build riddim, suh wi jus beg a one producer sort out one fi wi. Afta dat wi link di artiste dem an tell dem seh wi have a bad riddim fi dem voice pon and wi a beg dem put sup’n pon it,” he explained.

Threats take care of the promotion of the finished products. One popular selector said ‘young’ selectors in the business are sometimes threatened to play tunes on the thugs’ labels.

“Di man dem come out inna dem numbers when dem ready but a normally di likkle man dem get dem treatment deh still… Di bigga man dem probably inna di link already so a phone call can mek and everyting sort out,” said the selector.

Although profits from the new-found enterprise are not made in an instant, the thugs nevertheless say it is a good way of diverting unwanted police attention while travelling on the road to get ‘real money’.

In explaining their theory, Bling said: “A real money wi want eno, an dis is a good way to it… Di money might nuh deh pon spot like when yu keep a dance but afta a while a good food can eat.”

Despite their belief that this is a good way to elude the police, law enforcement officials said they are aware of the activity.

ACP Green said the police are also aware that other forms of criminal acts come into play with the new development.

“That’s nothing new to us and we know that it involves human and drug trafficking,” ACP Green said, while adding that the police are not easily tricked and once there is enough evidence to bring someone to justice, putting up any business venture as a front will be futile.

Another cop held in kidnap case

Detectives handling the investigation into the 2004 abduction and murder of Kemar Walters, 19, and Oliver Duncan, 35, have taken another policeman into custody in connection with the incident.

Earlier yesterday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields said the team was seeking to trace the whereabouts of Corporal Paul Edwards of the Riversdale Police Station. The release stated that the corporal was wanted for questioning in connection with the case. An appeal was made for the officer to turn himself in or for anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.

Subsequent to the issue of that release, Corporal Edwards turned himself in. He will be interviewed in the coming days.

Four policemen were taken into custody in relation to the December 23 murders of Walters and Duncan. The case was reopened 14 months ago after new information was published in The Gleaner pertaining to the case. The case was closed in 2007 after the Crown said there was insufficient evidence to prosecute a police officer who was initially accused in the men’s disappearance.

Reports are that the police drove to a parking lot in the Washington Boulevard plaza on December 23, 2004, and accosted the men, one of whom was said to be involved in a car-stealing ring involving members of the police. Both men then went missing. It is believed that they were abducted and murdered.

TEEN ‘BEATS’ COP AT STATION

A female police inspector was attacked and punched repeatedly by a teenage girl who was taken to her for counselling by her parents.

The teen drew looks of shock and surprise when the allegations against her were outlined in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The teen, who has since been slapped with a number of charges including malicious destruction of property, assaulting an officer, using indecent language, communicating with a prisoner and resisting with arrest, was taken to the police station by her parents because of her unruly, disrespectful and disruptive behaviour.

It is alleged that when she arrived at the police station and was being spoken to by the inspector, her indiscipline continued and she attacked the policewoman. The teen reportedly punched the inspector in the face, damaging her glasses. She is also accused of inflicting several other blows to the officer. The inspector told the court that she had to pay $6,900 to repair the damage to her glasses.

When the matter was brought up in court, however, the inspector revealed that she was willing to work with the troubled teen.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey urged the probation officers to speak with the child and offer her counselling. The Inspector promised to help in the process.

The matter is to return before the court on June 24 when the accused will be sentenced.

A real ‘cow bawling’ echoed through the Supreme Court building, last Friday, from a teenager who was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of another teen.

Adrian ‘Sanchez’ Nicholson, 18, of Newlands, St Catherine, wept uncontrollably as policemen escorted him from the courtroom after he was sentenced.

Nicholson, who was on bail pending sentence, believed that since he had pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was on bail awaiting his sentence, he would be given a non-custodial sentence.

Persons who heard Nicholson crying stopped to find out the reason.

They were informed that Supreme Court Judge Gloria Smith had just sentenced Nicholson to seven years’ imprisonment for manslaughter arising from the death of Kymani Hill, 13, of Power Avenue, Newlands. Nicholson was charged with murder but he pleaded guilty to the lesser offence.

Hill was fatally stabbed on November 30, 2006, after he threw a stone on a zinc fence near to a games shop in Newlands. Nicholson, who was in the shop, came out to enquire who threw the stone and a dispute developed between them.

After Nicholson stabbed Hill, he was chased, beaten and stabbed by residents and had to be taken to hospital.

The judge said despite pleas from attorney-at-law Jean Barnes for Nicholson to be given a non-custodial sentence, she had to send him to prison because “life was too precious and people must respect the sanctity of life”.

The court was told that after Hill threw the stone, people in the community were “egging on” the accused and Hill to fight.

The judge said that instead of crying for peace, the adults were egging on the violence. She said too many lives were being lost, especially young lives because of that type of behaviour from adults.

Nicholson’s lawyer, in making a mitigation plea, said that Nicholson should be given a non-custodial sentence because it was the action of the adults which brought about “this sordid state of affair”.

19-y-o under investigation for acquiring $1.4m

Members of the Area One Fraud Squad may have to explore the ‘scientific world’ to uncover how a teenager was able to acquire and cash several cheques belonging to an organisation to which he has no affiliation.

When the case against 19-year-old freelance computer technician Author Coleman was mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court, the officer informed the court that he was still carrying out investigations into how the accused got the cheques valued at $1.4 million.

Resident Magistrate Vivienne Harris told the investigating officer that he might have to use fingerprint analysis, and other forensic evidence, along with further intense investigation to uncover who colluded with the accused, if the case was to be prosecuted successfully.

Coleman, a resident of Rosemount Meadows, was charged with possession and uttering forged documents after it was discovered that he had been in possession of cheques for the complainant company. The signatures on the cheques were allegedly superimposed (computer generated) and, according to notations on the cheques, the accused told bank personnel that he had got the cheques for services rendered to the company.

However, defence attorney Martin Thomas, who applied for bail on Coleman’s behalf, said the prosecution would have a hard time proving its case against his client, as the evidence was quite tenuous.

Coleman was offered $250,000 bail and told that he should have no access to computers unless it was for educational purposes. He is also to report to the Freeport Police Station on Tuesdays and Fridays. The matter was set for July 22 to allow the police to carry out further investigations in the matter.

The allegations are that the chief financial officer of the company noticed that the business’ account was in overdraft and 10 cheques prepared between October 2008 and early 2009 could not be accounted for. The cheques were allegedly prepared and disbursed without proper documentation from the accounts department. It was later discovered that the cheques had been lodged over the counter and via ATMs to Coleman’s account.

19-y-o under investigation for acquiring $1.4m

Members of the Area One Fraud Squad may have to explore the ‘scientific world’ to uncover how a teenager was able to acquire and cash several cheques belonging to an organisation to which he has no affiliation.

When the case against 19-year-old freelance computer technician Author Coleman was mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court, the officer informed the court that he was still carrying out investigations into how the accused got the cheques valued at $1.4 million.

Resident Magistrate Vivienne Harris told the investigating officer that he might have to use fingerprint analysis, and other forensic evidence, along with further intense investigation to uncover who colluded with the accused, if the case was to be prosecuted successfully.

Coleman, a resident of Rosemount Meadows, was charged with possession and uttering forged documents after it was discovered that he had been in possession of cheques for the complainant company. The signatures on the cheques were allegedly superimposed (computer generated) and, according to notations on the cheques, the accused told bank personnel that he had got the cheques for services rendered to the company.

However, defence attorney Martin Thomas, who applied for bail on Coleman’s behalf, said the prosecution would have a hard time proving its case against his client, as the evidence was quite tenuous.

Coleman was offered $250,000 bail and told that he should have no access to computers unless it was for educational purposes. He is also to report to the Freeport Police Station on Tuesdays and Fridays. The matter was set for July 22 to allow the police to carry out further investigations in the matter.

The allegations are that the chief financial officer of the company noticed that the business’ account was in overdraft and 10 cheques prepared between October 2008 and early 2009 could not be accounted for. The cheques were allegedly prepared and disbursed without proper documentation from the accounts department. It was later discovered that the cheques had been lodged over the counter and via ATMs to Coleman’s account.

BLOODY WAR FOR CABLE MONEY – Thugs clash for profit from illegal business

The police are now concerned about an illegal cable operation in Gold Spring, Westmoreland, that has led to several bloody clashes between thugs wanting to collect the profits from its operation.

THE STAR has learnt that for the past three weeks there have been frequent clashes between two groups of men who have been fighting for the right to the profits.

Although there has not been any death so far, several men have been seriously injured after they were beaten and left nursing broken bones. At least a dozen men are believed to be involved in the conflict.

“Some months ago a group of men from the community devised a way to make illegal connections and charge residents a small weekly fee. Recently, another set of men from the same community wanted in on the action and when they were told ‘no’ it started a war,” Inspector Martin Howell of the Area One Police Division told THE STAR.

It was further explained to THE STAR that through the illegal connection, residents pay $200 per week and are given about 50 channels.

The police say they are yet to determine the number of residents who have taken up the illegal offer, but it is suspected that the men reap handsome profits.

With the prospect of earning big, the men have been at each other’s throats, clashing frequently in the streets of the community, using sticks, stones and anything else they can grab to get their point across.

“Based on what we heard, the original men are not willing to let in anybody on the action but the other men are willing to fight for it,” said Inspector Howell, adding, “They have not gone for the gun, instead these men are literally using sticks and stones but it is still a serious situation.”

The most recent clash occurred on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, about 4 p.m. two men had gone into a section of the community to collect cable payments.

They were confronted by a group of men who ordered them to leave, and upon resisting several blows were thrown on them. One of the men suffered a broken leg and had to be taken to hospital.

The police say that they have already began to increase their presence in the community and will be looking to slap charges on the participants in the illegal activity.

JAMAICAN HIT MAN HIRED TO KILL TRINI COP?

Reports have been running wild in Trinidad since last week that a Jamaican hit man was brought there to assassinate a senior police officer, known for his tough stance on crime.

According to one newspaper in Trinidad, the hit man was hired “to assassinate head of the North Eastern Divisional Task Force Sergeant Roger Alexander” and that the thug “has been hiding out somewhere in Laventille Road”. Reports say detectives have since been combing the island for the man.

On Monday, a corporal at the North Eastern Division Police Station said they would not be divulging any information on the telephone. He confirmed, however, that the police have heard about the Jamaican hit man. Attempts to speak with Sergeant Alexander were unsuccessful as THE STAR was told he would not be in office.

A representative at the Jamaican High Commission in Trinidad told THE STAR that he has seen the report in the media but it would first have to be substantiated before a comment could be made.

Head of communication for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Karl Angell, said that the matter would be looked into and an update provided.

Reports say the assassination plot was unearthed after the Morvant Police Station in Trinidad “was flooded with calls regarding the Jamaican national”.

It is alleged that that callers told police that a “hefty” price had been put on Alexander’s head and also described the would-be killer.

LA Lewis Evicted!

❒ Landlord removes belongings from deejay’s office

LA Lewis’ problems just can’t end.

The deejay, who is known for his graffiti across the Corporate Area, was yesterday evicted from the building from which he operated his business, LA Lewis Enterprise Limited.

Scores of onlookers gathered outside the establishment located at 24 Burlington Avenue in St Andrew, while the deejay’s furniture and equipment were being removed. While the rain fell, his belongings were being placed on either the sidewalk or in a truck parked a few metres away.

All this took place just hours after the deejay was released from custody after he was remanded on Tuesday by Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey. Lewis had appeared to answer to charges of housebreaking and larceny and assault in relation to allegations that he broke into the house of a former business associate and robbed her.

Shortly after he was given a new date to return to court, the artiste returned after the complainant told police that he attempted to kiss her and had stood in her way outside of court. RM Pusey then ordered that he be taken to the holding area to see that the court was not a ‘poppy show’. He was kept there until yesterday.

When contacted after his eviction, LA Lewis confirmed that he was removed from the building. He said, however, that he had been speaking with the landlord’s wife for an hour before the men arrived to remove his belongings.

“De lady (landlord’s wife) seh mi balance a $60,000. Dem bring some letters and seh I was evicted. From December (2008) me never pay dem no rent, but mi did have a talk with di elder for the building and tell him seh mi a go pay him soon,” LA Lewis told THE STAR.

However, Lewis said he paid $50,000 to the landlord a few weeks ago and he had also paid two months’ security deposit. The deejay said that he had a five-year rental agreement with the landlord in which he would pay $19,000 each month.

According to the deejay, he was unable to pay his rent because he was losing business as a result of his court case. He said his business was going through a “depression” and he was involved in many different projects.

His eviction has only added to the stress ,and now LA Lewis has been forced to store his belongings in a warehouse. He also said that he does not know where his office will be located next.

Exhibit A – The Founder Is Not A Blogger

The Entrecard founder, Graham “Adale” Langdon, claims to know what bloggers want and claims to be acting for bloggers. However, how can one make these claims when one is not a blogger himself?

Notice at the bottom how there are three “blogs” in his name. The only blog in his name that is active is the one to the far left which is the Entrecard blog. “How to NOT get Cancer” and “grahamlangdon.com” have both since been removed.

The Entrecard blog is hardly a blog at all. It is more a lesson in how to not communicate with your base.

So Graham Langdon, blogger? I don’t think so.

South African Reggae Legend Lucky Dube’s Killers Get Life, Finally

A judge sentenced the three men convicted of murdering South African reggae star Lucky Dube to life in prison, The Associated Press reports. Dube was shot to death in 2007 when the men attempted to carjack him.

The suspects, Sifiso Mhlanga, Mbuti Mabe and Julius Gxowa, were all convicted of the killing on Tuesday 03/31/09.

Not too long before the verdict was announced, Mabe and Mhlanga attempted to escape from court. Dube’s son, Thokozani, wept in court as the sentences were announced.

Thokozani was in the car with his father when he was gunned down.

Dube’s family and others got together and sang South Africa’s national anthem outside of the courthouse afterward. Dube was the nation’s top-selling reggae artist and recorded 22 albums.

02/22/09 -Politics and Social Commentary – who has time to read the newspaper anymore, especially when it’s filled with a bunch of opinions. so why not take a shortcut and go straight to the guy with a pretty commonly accepted Opinion – Politicus.US

When I first visited this blog a few months ago, I was awe struck by how razor sharp this guy’s assessment of the current political situation really was. he was openly supporting the Obama campaign. His way of doing it was via comparisons with the current administration at the time – Bush and Co.

He had me rolling on the floor laughing at the Bush and Dick Jokes (yes we realize what we just said, and we’re glad you do too.. but he said it, not us). then he “liberally” sprinkled in his secret desire to investigate then secretary of state Condi Rice. Oooooo La La ! You Bad Boy You..

Just look at how in a last ditch effort to help salvage the Bush Rep, he proposed a new citizen funded venture capital op – this guy is really working for America, God bless Him.

these days our friend has stuck to such political hot spots as the present problems with our Tinker Toy Passenger Rail System, and it’s unbelievably faus paux make-over. never-mind that he writes like a washington hater – this guy is a total insider; in the know that is.

as an example of how clever he is, when he’s bored he conducts international investigations. just look at how skillfully he uncovered the problem with the Irish Drivers License Fraud. better known as the “Prawo Jazdy” Scam.

This site specializes in Fan Fiction and telling you how to write it. The rules are complicated and in most of our minds a blur. when you read a fan site and the writer has taken the characters to a live action state, you’ve experienced Fan Fiction.

02/13/09 – Computers and the Internet – We Use Em We Love Em. Computer and Net is a neat blog written by a guy who wants to figure it all out and share it with you. He is Very Cool Indeed..

When we first checked out this blog we thought, Hey why is he talking about the Hyphen in Domain Names ? we of course were interested, because We Have a Hyphenated URL. and yes there is a reason, so keep reading Virginia.

He cracks us up when describing the process to decide what to name his blog, and if or not he should use a number; a three or a four letter domain name; and all the rest of the quirky new domain questions. He even addresses how to make money deciding and finally buying the domain. this guy is a hoot.

we learned so much of this eons ago, that to read it in a new bloggers language is funny, yet informative. he talks about his choice of how to host his new domain and if or not it’s better to use Blogger for all sort of backside issues.

We Agree. he knows what he’s talking about..

one of our most re read sections of this particular blog is where he describes the process and problems of owning the .com but not the .net – and what you have to do to procure it when you become famous and need it. Yes he calls it Traffic Leakage. Did You Even Know it Had a Name..?

now honestly, how much thought have you given to this very important aspect of how your clicks come and go ?
