I actually wasn't even aware of the controversy until I saw this on your site (shame on me). There's racism all over the world, some is open like this, which we always find shocking; but as I'm sure you know there is so much that is hidden which is at least as harmful. China is such a closed society. If it ever becomes more open, and that is a big if, I think that these attitudes will change.

Ruth I agree with you totally, this is a disgrace;
but maybe it's just us thinking that china wants to change.
it could be just another very clever marketing campaign,
orchestrated for their olympic face last year.

sad indeed.. because this woman is beautiful and talented,
and no doubt Chinese.

Lou Jing is a beautiful young lady and should be very proud of herself! Those racist bloggers are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.

If I remember correctly the Chinese are notoriously Xenophobic, but to attack an innocent young woman for something she had absolutely no control over is just stupid and totally reprehensible.
