Lookie Cookie – the Referral Program at Entrecard has started
the program gives you 300 ec’s for every new user sign up you recruit through the use of your specific banner code.
I only have one comment to make - this is a second entrecard widget. why didn’t they just include the code in the original widget – instead of asking for Even More Real Estate ?
Honestly, I wonder why didn’t they design it that way ?

KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid, Duhhh..
My Theory is simple – they want to take as much space on your blog as you will give them, without regard to function or design. You as a blog owner and designer are now faced with the chore of deciding if you want to allocate another slip of High Page High Value UNPAID REAL ESTATE on your blog. is it really worth it for 300 ec’s on a MAYBE ?
Only Time Will Tell, as I have no idea how many people who are not entrecarders will see the widget and click it. maybe the flashing will drive someone to abstraction and they’ll click it to stop it from flashing relentlessly. personally I have enough blinking, flashing, and scrolling things on my page already. to add one more is going to be a hard decision – especially from entrecard.
Honestly speaking – there are many days I contemplate removing the entrecard widget itself. I just don’t see the changes happening quickly enough, to fix the problems; and make the system pay off – for those who’ve stuck it out through all the drama and craziness.
of course I stay because of my kinship with many bloggers who fill my day with great reads, and fantastique friendships from far away. that is what Entrecard is really all about to me – not the points.

I do not see the reasoning in their new widget design – so I don’t see why I should give up any more real estate for it. to work effectively it would have to be near the top of your page or in a rich content area. that means it’s vying for attention with your other apps; which are designed to keep you on the page. that’s soooo not good.
We Call This “TRICKNOLOGY”
Honestly, I’m not sure if this is a Whoops or a Whoopie !
To access your referral widgets, you log into your dashboard, click the link that says Referrals Program. It’s Brand New, as it just appeared This Morning – 09/17/09.
Per Cindy’s Latest Blog – If the user stays with Entrecard for 14 days and retains the widget during this time, you will receive 300 Entrecard credits as a thank you. You can see your existing referrals on the Referrals page.
Tell Me, What do you think ?

When I first joined Entrecard, it was more about the points. I look back now and say, what in the heck was I thinking…mindlessly clicking until I reached 300. Now, it's more about the relationships I've formed. I'm no longer interested in piling up points. So getting new recruits would be of no interest to me in terms of gaining extras. I'll promote Entrecard because it's a great way to meet new and exciting people like YOU.
Awwwww..Seee This is what I mean.
I just put this post up and you hit it while the smoke
was still coming off of it.
Jacqueline, you are one of My Favorite Entrecard Treasures.
Know That Sweets
I am not really interested in the 300 credits for referrals, and I definitely don't want to give up space to promote Entrecard to others on my site. I don't think it's a bad idea for Entrecard though, and I am glad they are actively trying to get more users. That can only be good (provided the new blogs are well-screened).
Hi,
i hoped to see some tricks about this new abusive referral system as your title pointed me to believe in something like tricks
Ok, then i will write how we can harvest credits with this easy 300 credits referral system. Wait some hours and it will be up.
Warning: I will report my new post to EntreCard. Let's see if they decide to change something until you really can get the 300 ECs!
my website doesn't get submitted when i login with OpenID ??

Your Comment Makes No Sense -
what are you trying to tell us martin ?
Given the way they totally devalued the credits, 300 credits is only worth $0.30 – sorry that's not worth it to me.
ooo it's nice to see that we can agree Mr Bobo.
I am with you 100%. somehow I think everybody else sees
it that way too.
wonder if the entrecard folks will understand that we understand
the value of OUR SPACE.
Thanks for your comment Bobo
Nope. Not gonna take up anymore space on my page – especially since my page is already cluttered. I can't install a 3 column template (because I'm stupid apparently) – so I try to use the space wisely.
They've got one place on my blog – I'm not giving them more "free" space…not when everything you said is true. When they get on the ball and fix all the obnoxious problems (which shouldn't be very hard for them), then I'll consider it. If they want to be lackadaisical, I can be as well. xx
No more space for EC! Three hundred credits is not worth it. Enough already. As you and others have said, for me, it is about forming relationships with bloggers I enjoy reading and supporting those blogs. Aren't there still click farmers out there?
YOU GO CHER !!!!!
i commented because your title made me think you thought of something tricking the system.
Seems like clickfarmers have no right to comment on your blog? I've been a kind of clickfarmer in the past because of the CashOut program. I don't think it's bad when EC offered money for credits. It's just not the way they should have marketed the CashOut.
If there is and has been already an inflation then they should have simply reduced the possible drops to 100. With this the cashout would have been prolonged and nobody would have to be blamed.
When the system itself is wrong, you can't blame the people who use it to the limit.
Not sure if my blog is a splog, it's updated regularly and at the moment i give back the credits to the other members (but it seems everybody swims in ECs). It 's better to give the ECs by contest than let 75% put into ECs own account as advertising tax, isn't it, so that they can sell it for 6$?
You call it a bad idea, and i call it an abusive referral program. It's the same like with the 300 drops (or the members who use autoclickers or something else without visiting the blogs – EntreCard Drop Club) and the CashOut program. it can be abused but you don't have to abuse it.
I just want to show EntreCard that this is the wrong motivation, in the end there will be a paid membership for special exposure like we see it in Adgitize. There is no other way how they want to control their costs. Now it's the time to get new members and show them how easy it is to get new visitors with the EC-Drop method.
Easier to get 300 ECs from my contest… just leave 3 comments and you get on 22nd up to 1.200 EC (from all four sponsors) and this every week until End of December.

Corneyman’s Comment:
What i mean is that it's not clear how active the new user has to be or if it's simply enough to put the EC-Card on your blog (there is nothing written from a minimum drop in these 14 days by the new member).
And as we all know, we can make nearly unlimited blogs in Blogger.com
Let's think about this… Make 5 posts to reach the minimum amount of posts for the EC-Quality standard, sign up under your own referral with a new account (drop each day 1 card or perhaps 5)
After 2 weeks cash in the 300 ECs, make this with 5 blogs at the same time (if you don't put the link to your blogger profile on the blog, nobody knows that it belongs to you)…
Remove the widget after the two weeks… and rename your blog in Blogger (too easy just have to change the name and type in the captcha-code), make the same procedure again and again.
The only thing this referral system is doing. It's generating easy ECs for lazy persons and heats up the bad inflation that is still there in EntreCard.
I hope in connection with this comment my previous comment makes sense *lol* Had no time to do the post…
Okay, don't laugh. I haven't been on EC for a few days (although I HAD been wondering why I was getting the Thanks message on one computer and not the other. Shit.) and was wondering what the new graphic was. I'm not going there. I don't need 300 EC that badly. I do this for the social aspect.
susan welcome to the club.
we seem to be in agreement on the craziness not being the factor that drives our visits.
thanks for your comment sweets
I tend to be suspicious about any referral/click-through program anyway. Maybe it's because of the way I sign up for things. I may click through a sponsored link, but I never sign up or buy anything on the spot. I tend to bookmark the site, research it, and take time to think about it. Usually by the time I decide to sign up, I forgot which site I used to click through to it and just go to the site's main page on my own. Consequently, the person may not get his or her referral compensation.
There are companies out there who offer similar type of ads, the whole click through/referral deals. I have never signed up for those type of ads because I always assume everyone else behaves the same way as me in looking at a new site. I figure that if I were to post an ad, the only thing that would happen would be the advertisers would just get free ad space, while I got nothing in return.
Plus, these days people are weary of clicking through to anything they do not know because of viruses, spyware, and the like. If you have never heard of Entrecard, how do you know it's legit? Are you willing to risk your computer over it to click through? Most non-EC'ers may not be.
I doubt I will be putting it on my blog. Heck, I just removed Adsense because I had earned less than $9 in a year. I'm thinking I wouldn't earn the first penny on this ad either.
Staci you know you hit it right in the head. that clickfraud is out like credit.
ec should have known better than to think that anybody would be caught up in that gimme buisness; especially when they just devalued their presence.
and to think they got the nerve to ask for more.
oh hellllll no.
You're welcome to reap 300 credits for free just for visiting my site. Sorry for a spam comment.
P.S. Nice Entrecard banner!
