WOW American Idol style drama in China over A Chinese Mixed Race Contestant, in 2009 ?
we thought that after the problems leading up to the olympics you’d have this pretty well resolved. yet you stand here mighty powerhouse of ethnicity and show us your Mean Face.
her talent alone is enough to preclude this type of littleminded drama; yet here again we stand looking at the relics of american racism, manifested imperically – in 2009.
Personally speaking as a Blackwoman, I am proud to have Lou Jing as a Sister. regardless of what chinese racism says. she is beautiful and apparently quite talented. the bloggers hatred is ugly and wasteful. it’s just so out of touch with world views.
this is why china needs to open up it’s internet and it’s media to foreign resource availability. there are people who look like this girl born in Africa of African Parents. why is it so difficult for the chinese to accept her ?
yet the chinese rush into africa and ship the africans’ inferior second rate goods; and a load of political lies. no one in china is unaware of their world presence and how they appear to others. it’s shameful that this is what china looks like in 2009; to the rest of the world. you are no better than the usa.
This girl is Chinese, and African; CHINA Be Proud She’s Chinese

*A racial firestorm has surfaced in China over a half-black, half-Chinese girl who recently appeared on the Shanghai-based reality TV show akin to “American Idol.”
Lou Jing, 20, is the daughter of a Chinese mother and an African-American father who left the country before she was born.
Her selection as one of five finalists on DragonTV’s “Let’s Go! Oriental Angel” has provoked an explosion of abuse on the Internet, a rare debate on racism in the media, and a bout of self-examination in a country where skin color is a notoriously sensitive subject, reports UK’s The Guardian.
The report continues:
Dragon TV initially had doubts about allowing Lou to perform, but then realized that her presence would do much to attract publicity for the show. But few executives can have expected the fury contained in many of the blogs and online posts that accompanied her performances. The Internet is the only place in China where the public can express views with near-freedom – although they are rapidly cut off by an army of state censors if they stray into territory that attracts official disapproval. The huge online interest in Lou clearly does not fall into this category.
“Ugh. Yellow people and black people mixed together is very gross,” was one representative post. And Lou’s critics are incensed not only by her color but also because she is apparently the product of an extramarital relationship. Another blogger wrote: “Numb! This b*tch still has the audacity to appear on television! I don’t know what to say! One cannot be shameless to this kind of level!”
Lou admitted to Neteast News that the level of hostility had come as a shock. “The whole thing was a big bomb to my family and me and it caused great harm,” she said. “I wish netizens could tolerate my particular parentage and let it go as soon as possible.”
She has stressed that she is a true Shanghainese, an assertion underlined by her accent. There has been no official response to the racism, but public figures have been quick to join what has become an impassioned debate on the Chinese and race. Media commentator and author Hung Huang wrote on her blog: “In the same year that Americans welcome Obama to the White House, we can’t even accept this girl with a different skin color.”
The China Daily newspaper also published a sterling defense of the young theatre student, written by one of its top columnists. “There are two factors at work here,” wrote Raymond Zhou. “Lou Jing is not a pure-blood Chinese and anyone who marries a foreigner is deemed a ‘traitor’ to his or her race. More relevant, Lou’s father is black.”
Zhou concluded: “It is high time we introduced some sensitivity training on races and ethnicities if we are going to latch on to the orbit of globalization. People should realize that if you have a right to discriminate against another race you have automatically given others the right to discriminate against you.”

This is no better than that clowndressing Mr. Shirley Q. Liquor.

When will this Blackface Stop Being Funny People ?
the worst part is that it’s not in the culture of Australia to do Blackface; yet we see a 2009 Minstrel show on National Television.
The World is saying Shame On You Australia – We Are Not Suprised at this, but at least Now We All know how you air your dirty laundry.
There is never a time or a place where racism is popular, acceptable or funny. in todays’ media it’s received more attention than most things; but this is going wayyyy beyond any acceptable limit of good taste.
is this a view of the racial identity problems in Australia, Still
We all know that many aboriginal children were stolen from their parents by the state in the early 60’s; and given to white australians – to be “Nationalized”.
ooooohhhh hang on, maybe the white folks in australia forgot that most of their dna comes from the prison camp. yes, the australian prisons were the breeding ground of the majority of the white australian population – as thats’ where the british exiled their prisoners to serve their sentences.
English murderers, whores and common thieves – the first Aussies
(remember the Aboriginal people don’t count in their australian eyes, even though they the real australians/aboriginal peoples were there when the white prisoners arrived) Spiffing, to quote King George
Australia in case you’ve forgotten WAS Founded for Whitefolks As A Great British Penal Colony. Yupper.. so those Blackfaces are the Real Aussies. Now Munch On That for a Hot Crispy Moment, Whydontcha – Uh HUH

Blackface ‘Jackson Jive’ skit shocks Connick – CNN.com.
(CNN) — Movie star and singer Harry Connick Jr. made waves around the world by condemning, on air, an Australian television skit featuring a group of performers who wore blackface to impersonate the late pop star Michael Jackson and his brothers.
Harry Connick Jr. was visibly dismayed after watching an insensitive skit performance on an Australian show.
The “Jackson Jive” performed the song “Can You Feel It” Wednesday wearing huge black wigs, blackface and one spangled glove each. The Michael Jackson impersonator wore whiteface.
Connick was one of the judges on the program, a special edition of the Australian variety show “Hey Hey It’s Saturday,” which aired Wednesday.
“If they turned up looking like that in the United States,” he said, frowning, “Hey, hey, there’s no more show.”

The show’s host, longtime Australian TV presenter Daryl Somers, may have compounded the problem by twice referring to the performers as “boys” — a historically derogatory way of talking to or about black men.
Somers later apologized on air to Connick.
“It didn’t occur to me until later — I think we may have offended you with that and I deeply apologize on behalf of all of us,” he said. “Because I know, your countrymen, it’s an insult to have a blackface routine.”
Connick replied that he would not have appeared on the show if he had known about the routine in advance.
In a message posted on his Web site, Connick wrote that “in the American culture, the blackface image is steeped in a negative history and considered offensive.”
Connick also sought to clarify that he didn’t “ascribe any motives to anyone” or “call anyone a racist” on the show.
“I do not believe that the performers intended any harm,” Connick’s message stated. “I appreciate the folks who have written in support but please know that I allow everyone their own opinions and can only speak for myself.”
Also on Connick’s Web site was a response to criticisms that the performer was in a sketch on the “MadTV” comedy variety show in which he appeared to be mimicking a black preacher. According to the Web site posting, the 1996 sketch was “a spoof featuring a black baptist [sic] minister [played by African-American comedian Orlando Jones] … and a white southern evangelical preacher.”
Connick was playing the white preacher, the posting stated.

Sneaky eastern world card dropper caught in the Act
Social Networking | Turnip of Power: The CMF Ads Side Dish.
WE Read Turnip of Power weekly and tonite we caught this post.
WOW !!! No doubt we shall see this open attack on asian entrecarders rebutted I am sure. Just as soon as some of our more well written Asian Entrecarders See This Post. they will no doubt contact others and compose their own response to the attack, by Entrecard’s CEO Graham Langdon.
WE Hate Racism, and this just Stinks
Graham must know better..
In a startingly racist April 11th blog comment from Graham Langdon, Entrecard blames the “Eastern World” for it’s problems.
“we are going to move as close to a free market as possible, but with the potential to abuse of the drop system, black markets and “farms” in the eastern world bottomed out the price of credits to about .25 cents per thousand, at which point it became clear that we needed to nationalize until further measures could be taken to safeguard proper issuance of credits.
Sneaky eastern world card dropper caught in the Act
Eastern World, Huh? So apparently some rice farmer in Vietnam destroyed the free market. What kind of racist crap is this? Wouldn’t a “free market” allow everyone to buy and sell credits? Anyone can currently buy and sell US stocks, should we blame those “damn Japs” for our current United States economic issues?
Don’t red blooded Americans also abuse the drop system? Seems to me Entrecard could check the referrers of who is dropping cards. Why don’t they release the stats of who is abusing the drop system? Cournalists should investigate the facts before engaging in such yellow journalism.
Here’s an idea, instead of blaming foreigners for problems you knew existed over a full year ago, for once in your life accept the blame. Your failure to have a proper business model is what screwed up your virtual economy. Your failure to put in a full day of work and rely upon unpaid labor is what filled your network with spam. BTW whiteboy wearing the asshat, there are both American spammers and “Eastern World” spammers clogging your network, in case you never looked at your demographics.
Now I wonder what Graham was referring to when he mentions ”black markets”.
